Description
This pair of imposing gatepiers, dating from the later to late 18th century, forms the second set on the West drive leading to Kinnell House—there are three pairs in total along this drive. They are an important element of the approach to the house. The gatepiers are circular and constructed from rubble stone, topped with flat, corniced caps surmounted by fluted urns. They are part of a group of buildings and structures of group value, which includes Yellow Cottage, the first set of urn gatepiers on the West Drive, the Lion Gatepiers on the West Drive, the ball finial gatepiers on the South Drive, Kinnell House itself (including the walled garden and associated buildings), the Kinnell House steading, and the Kinnell House ice house.
