Description
The Dalchully Bridge, built in 1731 as part of General Wade’s military road network, carries the River Mashie. This hump-back bridge is constructed of roughly tooled rubble with a round-headed arch ring and parapet cope. Modern cement pointing is visible throughout. A small buttress is located on the downstream side of the bridge, on the south bank. The approximate span of the bridge is 20 feet. The bridge is also known as Dalcholly. Further information can be found in G.R. Curtis’s “Roads and Bridges in the Scottish Highlands, the Route between Dunkeld and Inverness, 1725-1925.”
