National Bank Of Scotland, 17 The Square, Grantown-On-Spey

The National Bank of Scotland, located at 17 The Square in Grantown-On-Spey, was likely built in 1829 and has undergone alterations in the late 19th century. This two-storey building with an attic features a symmetrical three-bay east-facing facade. The exterior is made of harl pointed rubble with tooled grey granite dressings and margins. It has a central door, long and short angle quoins, and a moulded eaves cornice with a blocking course. The building is topped with a slate roof and includes three later 19th-century wallhead dormer windows that have wooden pediments and two- and four-pane glazing. The ends of the building have quoins and coped stacks.

In front of the building, there are two pairs of square granite gate piers with simple pyramidal caps on either side, which are connected to the house by low coped walls and spearhead cast-iron railings.
