Grant Arms Hotel, The Square, Grantown-On-Spey

The Grant Arms Hotel, located in The Square, Grantown-On-Spey, was built in 1875 with significant additions made between 1879 and 1890, incorporating an earlier building. This large hotel features two and three storeys with Scottish Baronial detailing, displaying twelve bays facing The Square and an additional three wide bays on the return gable. The exterior is constructed of tooled rubble with tooled and polished ashlar dressings.

The former central entrance, which was part of the seven-bay range built in 1875, has been converted into a window. The late 19th-century central entrance features a wide, shallow-headed doorpiece adorned with a central coat of arms. Notable architectural features include a second-floor oriel window in a crow-stepped gable, angle bartizans topped with bellcast conical roofs covered in fishscale slate, and gabled dormers that break the wallhead. The building has varied glazing, coped end and ridge stacks, and slate roofs.

Inside, there is little of architectural interest that survives.
