Description

John Gershom Adams, 1899. 5-storey 8-bay hotel building with Scots Baronial detailing. Coursed bull-faced sandstone with polished dressings. Continuous cornice to ground floor, stepping up over tripartite entrance; string course between 2nd and 3rd floors, stepping up over tripartite windows to centre bay; eaves cornice. Finialled, slate-roofed tourelles to outer left and to left of centre bay corbelled out at 4th floor; crenellated oriel corbelled out at 2nd floor in 2nd bay from right; projecting wallhead stack with corbel courses between 3rd and 4th bays from left; ball-finialled crowstepped gable to centre. Bipartite windows in 3 bays to left; bipartites in 4th from left; tripartites above entrance; single windows to right with bipartites above oriel. Modern canopy over entrance.

Modern glazing to ground; plate glass in timber sash and case windows above. Grey slates. Coursed ashlar stacks with circular cans.
