Description
The War Memorial in The Square, Grantown-On-Spey, was designed by Marshall Mackenzie in 1921. It features a short fluted column set on a battered square plinth made of polished ashlar grey granite. The faces of the plinth display plaques that depict a kilted soldier from the First World War, along with the names of those who fell in the wars of 1914-1919 and 1939-1945. The column is topped with a shaped cap that has an egg and dart border, from which a cast empire garland is suspended on the south side.
