Description
Forest Lodge is a substantial two-storey square shooting lodge built in the later 19th century, featuring regular elevations. The exterior is clad in timber painted black and white to resemble dummy studding. The entrance is located in an advanced gabled center bay on the wide three-bay east elevation, flanked by large windows that lead into the entrance lobby. The south elevation has five bays with advanced and gabled outer bays, showcasing single bipartite windows with two- and six-pane glazing. The building has brick coped ridge stacks and a roof covered with Welsh slate.
Inside, the lodge features panelled pine window shutters, doors, and door jambs. The center stair hall is top-lit and lined with pine, and the staircase and landing are adorned with turned pine balusters. The dining and drawing rooms are also pine lined, complete with pine joisted ceilings.
