Dell Lodge, Nethybridge

Dell Lodge in Nethybridge dates from around 1800 and is a two-storey house with a dormerless attic. It has a symmetrical three-bay main block that connects to single-storey wings at right angles, creating an overall H-plan. At the rear, there is a later single-storey eight-bay wing that projects out.

The main block is constructed from squared coursed tooled grey granite, while the wings are made of pinned granite, and the rear and flanks are finished with harl-pointed rubble. The building features tooled granite dressings.

The entrance is now obscured by a modern glazed sun porch with a local slate roof. The main entrance consists of a double leaf panelled door with incised reeded detailing on the lower halves, and there is decorative glazing in the oblong fanlight above. Each of the flanking wings contains a pair of three-bay dwellings, each with a central door. The windows mainly have 12-pane glazing, with 4-pane glazing found at the rear and in the wings. The building has end and ridge stacks and is topped with local slate roofs.

Inside, the staircase features slender turned balusters and square panelled end newels topped with ball finials. The panelled doors and window shutters echo the incised detailing found on the front door, which is also repeated in the woodwork of the first-floor drawing room. This room boasts a decorative plaster cornice and ceiling that includes anthemion motifs and intertwining floral designs.
