Description

Garbh Allt Suspension Bridge, built in 1924 by James Abernethy and Company Ltd, is a pedestrian suspension bridge made of steel rope. It features a sheet metal walkway and a scissor-braced iron parapet. The bridge has pylon gateways set on granite abutments, with tapering, scissor-braced iron columns, one of which has a cast name plaque. These columns are connected by an overthrow that includes a round-arched opening and crenellated detail. The structure is supported by steel wire rope stays.
