Description
The Shieling, located at 31-35 Park Place in Stirling, is a mid-Victorian asymmetrical Italianate villa built in 1860. This two-storey building features an L-plan front with a prominent four-storey tower positioned in the re-entrant angle. To the right, there is a rubble-built canted bay that extends through both floors, while the left side has a bipartite window arrangement. The tower showcases a round-arched doorpiece that has been partially infilled as a window, along with a decorative cast-iron balcony and a consoled window on the first stage. The second stage of the tower includes tripartite windows, and the top stage features pairs of arched windows set at splay angles, with panelled angles and a balustraded parapet. The roof is piended and slated. Additionally, decorative ashlar gatepiers enhance the entrance to the property.
