Description
Lime Grove, formerly a hotel, is a mid-Victorian free Gothic mansion house located at 9 Clifford Road in Stirling. This two-storey, asymmetrical detached villa sits on a corner site and features a rubble-built three-window front facing Clifford Road. The right-hand gabled bay includes a canted bay that extends through both floors, while the left-hand bay has a tripartite window on the ground floor and a gabled bipartite window above. The centre of the façade is highlighted by a Corinthianesque columned porch with a corbelled and depressed arch. The building has a stone roof with a corbel table, stop-chamfered openings, and gables topped with spike and ball finials. At the rear, there is a single-storey back wing that also features a gablet. The roofs are slated.
