Description
Oakdene is a 2-storey Gothic detailed villa built in 1888, located on a prominent corner site at 27 Broadstone Park, Inverness. The main elevations feature red stugged ashlar with polished yellow dressings. The southeast elevation includes a wide gabled bay on the right, which has a projecting square 3-light window at the ground floor and a 2-light window above, set under a pointed head with the initials MR. To the left, there is a wide canted ground floor window, with a tripartite feature breaking the eaves above, adorned with blind cusped heads set into the gable. The ground floor windows are topped with balustrading that features crests.
A porch is located in the southeast re-entrant angle, constructed of timber with a tiled roof and brattishing that includes a sunflower detail. Above the porch is a dormer head. The projecting gabled bay on the northeast side is similarly detailed to the southeast. All gables are topped with cast-iron finials. The villa has a slate roof and coped stacks. The property is enclosed by banded gatepiers with truncated pyramidal caps and a crenellated boundary wall.
