Description

Tormore is a large asymmetrical villa built around 1870, featuring Gothic details. The building has two storeys with attics and is situated on a slope, with a basement facing the garden to the west. It is constructed from stugged red ashlar with polished dressings. The openings include some that are segmental-arched, some that are mullioned, and others that have hood-moulds.

The east-facing street elevation displays three unequal gables, with the right gable being taller and set forward, accompanied by a low addition. There is a door in the left gable that features a two-centred-arched head and a hood-mould. The garden elevation consists of three bays, with a tall gable on the left. The inner bay is canted at the ground level and corbelled to a square shape above, featuring a three-light window on the first floor with a decorative timber pediment above it. To the right, there is a flight of decorative cast-iron steps leading to a ground floor window. The building has skews and stacks, mostly with paired circular flues, and is topped with slated roofs.

Additionally, there are ashlar-coped rubble-built garden walls and square gatepiers with shaped caps.
