Description
The Grange is a villa built around 1870, featuring an asymmetrical design with two stories and an attic, situated on a slope with a basement facing the garden to the west. The building is constructed from stugged red ashlar stone, accented with polished dressings and raised quoins, and has mostly segmental or round-headed windows. The east elevation, which faces the road, has an advanced gable on the left side and a gabled porch in the re-entrant angle. The porch includes a panelled door flanked by columned jambs and sidelights, all covered by a stepped hood-mould. To the right, there is a square bay window on the ground floor and a small triangular dormer in the attic. The garden side features two advanced gables that are corbelled to a square shape above ground level, with original blind boxes. The villa has end stacks with grouped square flues and is topped with slate roofs. It is set behind a low wall with cast-iron railings, square piers, and gatepiers that have projecting bell-cast caps.
