Description
The bridge over Airthrey Loch, located on the Stirling University campus, was designed by Robert Matthew Johnson-Marshall and Partners in 1970, with John Richards as the partner-in-charge. This long, straight, high-level open bridge spans the loch from north to south and is set within a picturesque campus parkland, which was planned by landscape architect Ed Hillyard. The bridge features a U-section reinforced concrete structure with a later added timber deck. It is supported by two large, narrow splayed supports. The exterior of the parapet includes large plain recessed panels with bevelled edges, and there are similar, smaller panels on the inward face of the parapet.
