Description
The Garfield Hotel is a mid-Victorian, two-storey detached villa with a basement, located on a corner site. It features outer canted bays and a slightly advanced central entrance bay that has a single arched window framed in pilasters. This entrance is sheltered by a blocked square column Roman Doric porch, which leads to a round arched doorpiece approached by steps. The building has a coursed rubble basement with rock-faced dressings, while the upper part is finished in painted ashlar with raised quoins. It includes a main cornice and blocking course, and has a piended slated roof. There is also a conservatory at the gable.
