Description
Milton Bridge, built in 1938, is an early example of a large-scale cantilevered steel road bridge. The bridge comprises a huge main span of 140 feet flanked by two lesser spans, each measuring 72 feet. All spans are shallow segmental arches. The bridge's piers and abutments are constructed from red Dumfriesshire ashlar. The bridge is located on the A74 at Milton Bridge, Lesmahagow.
