Description
The Driveway Bridge over the River Nethan at Birkwood dates from the earlier to mid-19th century. It is a single segmental arched bridge that carries the driveway to Birkwood House over the river. The bridge features bull-faced ashlar stonework up to the level of the string course below the parapets, with polished ashlar stone above. The approaches are splayed, and the octagonal piers at the north end appear to be older and include gothic detailing.
