Description
This is a disused road bridge, appearing to date from the early 19th century. It may have been constructed along the route of Thomas Telford's Glasgow-Carlisle road, built in the 1820s. The bridge features a single, segmental arch spanning the River Nethan. It is constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings, characterised by channelled voussoirs. The abutments have a shallow ramped form, and the ashlar parapets are splayed towards the approaches. The bridge is currently in a neglected condition.
