Description

Early 20th century bank with initials CBLD in pediment

over entrance. 2 storeys and attic. Polished ashlar.

Splayed angle at junction of Castlegate and Wellgate with

pilastered entrance and heavily bracketted pediment over.

At ground 3 irregular bays to left and right. All bays

divided by pilaster orders. 3 bipartites to right (1 later

single light), 2 to left with door in narrow bay, having

part fluted pilasters and panel over. All windows

pilastered with continuous entablature. 1st floor, single

light over main door, bipartites flank round-headed

bipartite to right, 3 single lights with bipartite in

outer bay to left, all pilastered. Cill course forms base

for part fluted ionic pilasters, paired at splay and

central right bay. Entablature over with parapet broken by

4 pilastered and pedimented dormers, 2 bipartite with

scrolled brackets. Slate mansard roof.
