Description
The Free Church School, located at 4 Clyde Road in Douglas, is a mid-19th century building featuring a two-storey L-plan design. It is constructed of rubble with ashlar margins. The section at No. 2 is positioned at a right angle to the road and consists of three bays, which include a central door, a window to the left, and a forestair on the right that leads to a modern gabled porch at the first-floor level. The left corner of this section is curved at ground level, and there are three sash windows on the first floor. The building has an eaves cornice, end stacks, and a slate roof that includes a central slated ventilator with a finial.
Additionally, there is an extension of one bay along Clyde Road to No. 4, which also features three bays, a central door framed by a roll-moulded architrave, and modern glazing on the first floor. This section also has end stacks and a slate roof.
