Cassalands House, 29 Cassalands, Dumfries

Cassalands House, located at 29 Cassalands in Dumfries, is likely composed of three main sections. The building features a tall two-storey range with a two-bay south elevation, where the leftmost bay probably dates back to the late 18th century. An early 19th-century two-storey, three-bay house was added to the north, creating an L-shaped plan. Around 1830, the angle of the L-plan was filled with a bay that has a bowed south front and large windows. The exterior is finished in painted rubble and harl, with contrasting ashlar margins. The house has sash windows throughout, featuring a 12-pane glazing pattern on the south elevation, and a piended double-pitch roof. The north elevation is plain, and there are end stacks and slate roofs. Additionally, there is a conservatory on the west side.
