Description
Calder Bridge, designed by architects Thomas Telford and Henry Welch, was completed in 1829. This single semi-circular span bridge is constructed of stugged ashlar, featuring ashlar voussoirs, dressings, and coping on the parapet. The bridge has splayed and sloping abutments, a band course over the arch, and a date stone set in a rectangular panel above the keystone on the southeast side, which is inscribed with "Built by Wm Brownlie."
