Description
Drumclog Memorial Kirk, designed by architect J. MacLellan Fairley, was built in 1912. The church has a roughly cruciform plan with a tower located near the west corner. It is constructed of snecked bullfaced rubble, featuring polished ashlar dressings. The entrance is situated at the base of the tower, recessed under a moulded round arch with splayed reveals.
The prominent square-plan tower has squat diagonal buttresses that are chamfered in the upper part to create an octagonal base for the cupola. Each face of the tower has a louvred oculus, and some openings feature S-tracery. Squat pinnacles are positioned over the angles of the tower. The church also has an unusual three-stage copper cupola with a bell-cast cap and a weather vane.
The body of the church includes double aisles on the north-west elevation and a single aisle on the south-east elevation. The south-west gable is buttressed and features a Y-traceried window. All gables are crowstepped, and there are four swept-roofed windows on the south-east that break the eaves line. The roof is slate, and the church contains painted and leaded glass panels created by C. E. Stewart FRSA and JT&CE Stewart.
