Old Toll House, 1 Old Coach Road, East Kilbride

The Old Toll House, located at 1 Old Coach Road in East Kilbride, is a tollhouse dating from the later 18th century, with some later alterations. It is a single-storey structure featuring a flat-roof wing. The building is constructed of coursed stone and includes a base course, quoins, an eaves course, and raised margins.

On the southeast, or principal elevation, there is a single bay projection with a blocked entrance door that has been converted into a window. This door is topped by a cornice supported on brackets, and above it is a corniced gablehead that features a clock. To the left of the projection, there is a single window on the left return, while the entrance door is located on the right return. The outer bays also contain single windows, and there is a single bay wing attached to the left side of the building.

The windows have modern glazing, and the roof is covered with slate. The roof features straight skews and skewputts, a very short stack at the right gablehead, remnants of a stack at the left gablehead, and a slim, coped stack at the gablehead of the projection.
