Description
The Lanark-Muirkirk Railway Bridge, built around 1873, is a skewed cast-iron arch bridge featuring an open spandrel design. It has four ribs and solid cast-iron plate parapets that include broad panels separated by narrow strips with rounded heads. The faces of the external arch ribs are decorated with moulded strips to highlight the arch form. The bridge is supported by massive stone abutments, wing walls, and associated parapets made of bull-faced ashlar. It also features a polished string course at road level and polished copes, along with terminal pilasters and dies.
