Tote Tower, Hyndford Road, Lanark Racecourse

Tote Tower, located on Hyndford Road at Lanark Racecourse, was built in 1929 and is a two-storey, three-bay structure with a rectangular plan. The building is constructed of coursed red brick with concrete dressings, featuring a base course, a dividing band course, overhanging eaves cornice, and projecting cills.

The south elevation is symmetrical, with a broad two-leaf boarded timber door at the center of the ground floor, flanked by boarded-up windows on either side. Above, there is a bipartite window at the center of the first floor, with a large clock above it and timber indicator boards on both sides.

The east elevation is also symmetrical, featuring two boarded-up windows on the ground floor and two windows on the first floor. There is a cast-iron balcony and an emergency exit stair leading to the window on the left.

The north elevation is symmetrical as well, with an infilled opening at the center of the ground floor and a large window at the center of the first floor, flanked by single windows on either side.

The west elevation has two boarded-up windows on the ground floor and two windows on the first floor. The building includes a variety of small pane timber-framed windows, some of which are missing panes. The roof materials were not observed in 1999. The interior was also not seen in 1999.
