Description

The chimney at the Retort House in New Lanark dates from around 1825. It is a tapered octagonal structure made of sandstone ashlar, standing on a square plinth with a plain coping. The chimney is situated near the cliff at Dundaff Linn Falls. There is a basecourse at the bottom of the stalk, and there are fragments of brick walls that adjoin the plinth.
