Description

Mid 19th century. 2-storey, basement and attic (to No 14), 2-bay mirrored pair of houses (excluding attic), forming part of terrace. Painted coursed, squared sandstone; exposed to S and W elevations. Ground floor band course; eaves course; cornice; blocking course; painted strip margins. Architraved windows; corniced at ground floor.

E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central stepped platt oversailing basement; pilastered, corniced and block-pedimented double doorpiece; glazed timber doors; letterbox fanlights; glazed timber door aligned below at basement to No 12; 2 single windows aligned above at 1st floor. Single windows flanking at ground , 1st floor and basement to right (glazed timber door to basement to left). Flat-roofed 2-light dormer at attic to outer left.

S (SIDE) ELEVATION: 2-bay. Single windows at basement, ground and 1st floors to centre (varying sizes); single window at ground to right.

4-pane lying pane glazing to upper sashes in timber sash and case windows; 2-pane to lower sashes. Grey slate roof; rooflights; stone skews; corniced stacks; circular and polygonal cans.

INTERIORS: not seen 1998.

RAILINGS AND GATE: ashlar copes surmounted by iron railings to stepped platt and basement to E elevation; iron gate to right.
