Description
Broadleys is a detached symmetrical villa located at 29 Park Circus in Ayr, designed by H V Eaglesham in 1895. This two-storey building features three bays, with the outer bays canted. It is constructed from coursed sandstone and includes a base course, a richly detailed eaves course on the canted sections, a cornice, and composite capitals that delineate the canted sections at the ground floor. Slim Ionic columns also define the canted sections at the first floor.
The south elevation, which is the entrance, has a central entrance framed by Ionic columns that support a three-bay balustraded balcony. It features a square-headed doorpiece with a timber door and a French window on the first floor. The canted flanking bays have regular fenestration.
The east and north elevations were not seen in 1999. The west elevation has a window off-centre to the left on the ground floor and a window in the center of the first floor. The villa has plate glass timber sash and case windows, with a central French window on the first floor. The roof is covered with grey slate and has piend sections with ball finials on the canted bays, as well as corniced wallhead stacks and circular cans. The property also features cast-iron rainwater goods.
The interior was not seen in 1999. The site is enclosed by a boundary wall with central square-plan gatepiers, a timber gate, an additional timber pedestrian gate to the left, and a boundary wall of alternating heights.
