Description
5 Miller Road in Ayr is a pair of mirrored villas built in the later 19th century. These two-storey buildings feature six bays and are constructed from painted coursed sandstone, with rubble on the sides. They include a base course, a first-floor cill course, an eaves course, a cornice, and a blocking course.
The north elevation, which serves as the entrance, has a central doorpiece for each villa that is pilastered, corniced, and topped with a block pediment. The doors are made of timber and have letterbox fanlights above them. There are single windows on either side at the ground floor and regular fenestration on the first floor.
The windows are made of plate glass and feature eight-pane timber sash and case designs. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there are stone skews, gablehead and ridge stacks, as well as circular and polygonal chimney cans.
The interiors were not seen in 1998. The property also includes tall, square-plan gatepiers at the vehicular entrance on the left, a pair of gatepiers on the right, and a low coped boundary wall that encloses the entrance elevation.
