Description
22 Fullarton Street in Ayr is an early 19th-century building that originally consisted of a pair of mirrored houses, now altered with a shopfront on the outer right. The structure is made of sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings, featuring a base course, eaves course, cornice, blocking course, and strip quoins. The openings have painted margins.
On the northeast elevation, there are two central square-headed entrances with recessed timber doors and letterbox fanlights. A narrow window is located in the center, with two single windows aligned above on the first floor. The remaining bays have regular fenestration, while the bay on the right at ground level has been modified to accommodate a modern shopfront, with a contemporary entrance door to the left.
The windows include plate glass and 12-pane timber sash and case designs. The roof is covered with grey slate and features a rooflight, stone skews, and a coped brick gablehead stack on the right, along with circular cans. The interior was not seen in 1998.
