Description

Peddie & Kinnear, 1856. 3-storey Italianate bank building

with canted angle bay, 3 bays to Hamilton Street, 4 bays to

Bridge Street. Finely stugged and broached ashlar. Raised on

plinth, taller to Bridge Street to accommodate slope. Central round-arched pilastered door with fanlight, simple pilastered

doorpiece with bracketted cornice to Bridge Street. Ground

floor windows, round-arched, with recessed moulded panels

below, hoodmoulds and string at springing height. Band course

above ground floor, moulded cill to architraved, round-arched

1st floor windows (architraves missing to Bridge Street).

Cill band to 2nd floor windows. Frieze with date and PK

monogram. Piended slate roof with deeply projecting eaves. 2

corniced stacks.
