2 Bridge Street, Girvan

2 Bridge Street in Girvan is a three-storey Italianate bank building designed by Peddie & Kinnear in 1856. The building features a canted angle bay and has three bays facing Hamilton Street and four bays facing Bridge Street. It is constructed from finely stugged and broached ashlar and is raised on a plinth, which is taller on Bridge Street to accommodate the slope of the land.

The central entrance on Bridge Street has a round-arched door framed by pilasters and topped with a fanlight. The doorpiece is simple, with a bracketed cornice. The ground floor windows are round-arched, with recessed moulded panels beneath, hoodmoulds, and a string course at the springing height. Above the ground floor, there is a band course, and the first-floor windows are round-arched with moulded cills and architraves, although the architraves are missing on the Bridge Street side. The second-floor windows also have cill bands. A frieze displays the date and the PK monogram. The roof is piended and covered with slate, featuring deeply projecting eaves and two corniced stacks.
