Description
Girvan Steeple, located on Knockcushan Street in Girvan, is a late 18th century structure that was moved to its current site in 1828. It is all that remains of the Town House. The building is constructed of ashlar and features a four-stage tower that is steeply battered, with rusticated quoins, bands separating the stages, and a corbelled parapet. The upper three stages, except for the west elevation, include unusual small thermae and blind openings. The clock stage has a broken pediment supported by pilasters on each face. At the top, there is an octagonal castellated belfry with an octagonal lead spire above.
