Description
The Pumping Windmill at Gunsgreen dates from the late 18th century and has undergone later alterations. It is a circular-plan, two-stage, tapering stump of a former tower pumping mill, which is currently roofless. The structure is built from heavily-pointed sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings and features red brick surrounds to later openings. There are various square-headed openings, including a new doorway to the northwest, which is missing its door, and an original doorway to the northeast that has been blocked. Additionally, there are single windows at the ground level to the north and south, along with three equi-spaced, blocked windows at the upper stage.
Inside, the walls are part brick and part rendered rubble, with various openings that are partially blocked.
