Description
1, 2 Old Bridge End in Jedburgh is a later 18th century house that incorporates earlier materials. It is a two-storey building with a raised basement and features five bays, forming an irregular terrace. The exterior is made of coursed red sandstone, with earlier cream sandstone rubble visible in the basement, and ashlar cills. There is an adjoining terrace on lower ground to the south.
The west (front) elevation has five bays grouped to the left with regular window arrangement. The central door is accessed from Canongate Bridge and from the lower ground via concrete steps to the right. There is a secondary door and a small flanking window in the basement to the right.
The north elevation is blank and has a gablehead stack. The east elevation is two-storey and harled, featuring a piend-roofed stair tower at the center with a tall rectangular window. To the left, there are pairs of square windows on each floor, while the right side is blank.
The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there are rendered stacks and flat skews. The interior was not seen in 1992.
