Description
1 Sandbed in Hawick is an early 19th-century, three-storey corner tenement that features a shop on the ground floor. The building has a piended roof at the corner and a recessed corner door. It is constructed of coursed whinstone, with a rendered shopfront and raised red sandstone dressings and quoins.
The principal elevation has three bays, with a window and tenement door flanked by large three-pane display windows in the plain shopfront at the ground floor. The first and second floors each have a single central window flanked by tripartite mullioned windows. The side elevation facing Howegate has a single bay with a large two-pane display window in the shopfront at the ground floor.
The shopfront features plate glass, while the upper floors have timber sash and case windows with 12-pane glazing. The building has a coped, rendered ridge stack with circular clay cans and a grey slate roof with a metal ridge.
