Description
2 Tower Knowe in Hawick is a Classical corner tenement built between the earlier and mid 19th century. It is a four-storey, three-bay structure with a piend roof and features a shop on the ground floor. The principal elevation is finished in smooth render with moulded margins, while the side elevation is made of painted rubble with painted polished ashlar margins. The building has raised long and short quoins and regular fenestration, with corniced margins and raised cills on the first and second floors. The east side elevation has a tenement door with a fanlight to the left and consists of two bays.
The windows are timber sash and case with 12-pane glazing. The roof is covered with grey slate and has metal ridges, along with a painted, ashlar-coped stack that includes circular buff clay cans. The building also features cast-iron rainwater goods.
