The Forester's Arms, Castlegate, Jedbugh

The Forester's Arms is a later 18th century, three-storey, six-bay inn located on Castlegate in Jedburgh. The building features harled walls with painted ashlar dressings and has windows in all bays. The two taller bays on the left are recessed and closely grouped, with a redundant door at the center, a window to the left, and a narrow door to the right, which is the only door currently in use. The upper windows are positioned just under the eaves.

To the right, there is an advanced block with four bays, which includes a painted margined ashlar angle and three irregular windows at the ground level. A narrow pend leads to Veitch's Close at the far right, and there is a band course above this section. The rear of the building has a pair of adjoining gabled jambs, with the northern side being three-storey and the southern side two-storey, as the ground falls to the north.

The recessed bays feature 12-pane timber sash and case windows, while the other bays have 4-pane windows. The building is topped with a beak skewputt at the angle, and it has rubble stacks, one of which has been rebuilt in brick. The roof is covered with grey slates.
