27 Castlegate, Jedburgh

27 Castlegate in Jedburgh is an earlier 19th-century, three-storey, three-bay tenement building that features a shop on the ground floor and a carriage pend to the right. There is also a three-storey projection at the rear. The building is constructed from squared and snecked rubble with ashlar margins, and there is a window in each bay. On the ground floor, there is a plate glass shop window to the left and a glazed doorpiece in the center, supported by modern beams for the upper floors.

At the rear, there is a gabled, rendered, three-storey section that is two bays wide and two bays deep, which includes an entrance to the flats. The windows on the gable end are stepped. The building features 12-pane timber sash and case windows, although the upper front windows have been replaced with uPVC. The roof is grey slated with a coped rendered stack, and there is a dark grey satellite dish located at the rear of the right stack.
