14-18 Castle Street, Dundee

14-18 Castle Street in Dundee is an earlier 19th-century, four-storey tenement building with a slightly later four-storey projection at the rear. It is constructed from coursed sandstone rubble, with random rubble at the back, and features a slate roof. The front has two-pane timber sash and case windows with painted concrete-faced ashlar margins, while some original 12-pane windows at the rear have quoined margins. There is a coped ridge stack.

On the front elevation, there are two later 19th-century shopfronts on the ground floor, with a close entry to the right and four windows on the first, second, and third floors.

The rear elevation includes a close entry and a window on the ground floor to the left, a bipartite window on the first floor, and single windows on the second and third floors. To the right, windows are partially obscured by a bay that advances to the center, which has a window on all floors. There is also a derelict two-storey brick structure in the yard.

Inside, most of the internal finishes have been stripped out, but two rooms still feature substantial sections of very ornate cornice work and ceiling roses, along with a stair in the rear section.
