Description
Central Farm Cottage, located at Blackburn Farm, is likely an 18th century building with later additions and alterations. It is a single-storey, 8-bay structure with a rectangular plan, arranged in a 2-3-3 grouping. The exterior is constructed from harl-pointed sandstone rubble, featuring cream sandstone dressings, rubble quoins, and droved cream sandstone margins. The windows are timber-mullioned bipartites with projecting cills.
On the south elevation, there is a square-headed doorway in the penultimate bay to the outer right, flanked by bipartite windows. A square-headed doorway is located at the center, also flanked by bipartite windows. To the outer left, there is a 2-leaf boarded timber garage door in the penultimate bay, along with a small boarded opening to the outer left.
The east elevation features a single window offset to the left of center. The building has lying-pane timber sash and case windows, although the glazing is predominantly broken. The roof is covered with grey slate, with stone-coped skews and cast-iron rainwater goods. There are regularly spaced, corniced, brick-built ridge and apex stacks, but the cans are missing.
The interior was not seen in 1998.
