Description

13A High Street is an early 19th-century building that has undergone late 19th-century alterations. It is a 2-storey structure with an attic and features a T-plan layout, consisting of a shop and a house. The ground floor has a later 19th-century 6-bay colonnaded shop front, which includes a door leading to the accommodation above. The principal elevation is made of coursed snecked whinstone, while the rear and gables are constructed from random rubble and render. The building has painted droved sandstone quoins and tabs around the raised window margins. The ground floor windows are topped with shallow arches that have stop-chamfered arrises and sloping cills. At the rear, there is a single-storey gabled wing that completes the T-plan. A canted dormer with slated cheeks is present on the rear elevation.

The windows feature 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there are ashlar gable stacks with plain clay cans. The building also has cast-iron rainwater goods.

Inside, the shop area has plain vertical boarding.
