Description
34 and 46 Channel Street is a three-storey commercial building dated 1885. It features an upper breaking eaves and has seven bays, with gabletted dormers. The exterior is made of squared buff sandstone with ashlar dressings, including a base course, ground floor shop fronts, a corniced signage fascia, a first-floor cornice that supports a gutter, and an eaves band course. The first floor has single, bipartite, and tripartite windows set in lugged surrounds, while the gable-headed dormers contain bipartite windows. Notably, there is a low relief bust of Walter Scott with the legend 'Watch Weal' at the centre of the first floor.
The windows are timber sash and case, fitted with plate glass, and the roof is covered with purple slate. The interior has been largely modernised.
