Description
47 South Street in Duns is an early 18th-century terraced house that has undergone significant later alterations. It is a two-storey building with five bays, featuring a harled exterior and ashlar margins at the front. On the ground floor, there is a modern door located in the inner right bay, which has a carved lintel inscribed with "DG.MM.1714." To the left of the door is a small window, while the bays to the right are blank. The first floor has windows in all bays positioned just under the eaves, with the left and center bays featuring windows that break the eaves and have flat dormerheads. The west gable end includes a window on the right side.
The rear elevation is irregular with four bays, including a projecting bay and a conservatory on the ground floor. The first-floor windows also break the eaves and have flat dormerheads.
The house has timber sash and case plate glass windows at the front and casement windows at the rear. The roof is covered with grey slates, has ashlar coped skews, and features a brick stack.
