Description
Cammo House, located in Clockmill, Duns, dates from the later 18th century and has undergone various alterations and additions. It is a two-storey, three-bay house with a single-storey addition on the right. The building features roughly squared sandstone with ashlar dressings and rubble on the south elevation, while the north elevation is harled.
On the east elevation, there is a modern door set in a rendered doorpiece with a cornice at the center, and a window above it on the first floor. Each flanking bay at ground level has two windows, and there is a window in the first floor of each bay. The outer part of the addition on the north side has a window.
The south elevation includes a window at the ground level on the outer right. The west elevation features a stair window in the center, with a later monopitched addition to the left of center. There is a window in the first floor of the bay to the left, two windows at ground level in the bay to the right, and a window above on the first floor.
The east elevation has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, while the rear displays a variety of windows, including 4-pane and 12-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with purple slate and has small stone flags near the ridge. There are brick gablehead stacks and later brick gabled mullioned dormers in the outer bays of the east elevation, along with a skylight in the center of the east elevation.
Inside, the house retains its shutters and panelled doors.
