Description
The Edrom War Memorial, designed by J S Rhind around 1920, is a First World War memorial located to the southeast of Edrom village. It features a carved Celtic cross made of sandstone ashlar, set on a concrete base. The memorial has a rusticated base and an ashlar pedestal, with the cross tapering in rectangular sections. The cross is adorned with Celtic carvings, and beneath it is a carved inscription that reads: "Sacred to the Memory of Officers, NCOs and Men of Edrom who fell in the Great War of 1914-1918." The names of the captains are carved on the south side of the pedestal, while the names of the privates are on the east and west sides. The sculptor's name is also carved on the south side of the rusticated base. Modern railings surround the memorial.
