Description
46 High Street in Peebles is likely a mid-19th century building, with a side entrance dated 1868. It is a two-storey, three-bay house featuring a shop on the ground floor and a pend opening. The facade is rendered, while the rear and side are constructed of brick. There is a string course above the ground floor, although it is partly obscured by the shopfront, along with an eaves cornice and a blocking course.
On the south (front) elevation, there is a pend with chamfered reveals on the outer right. The timber shop front is well-crafted, featuring panelled pilasters, a fascia, and a cornice to the left. The first floor has three windows, and there are two canted dormers.
The east (pend) elevation includes a roll-moulded doorway with a lintel that is both dated and initialled. The fenestration is irregular.
The building has timber sash and case windows with 12-and 4-pane glazing, and it is topped with a purple slate roof that has metal flashings. The interior was not seen in 1994.
