Description
Johnstone Castle is a 3-storey rubble tower featuring crowsteps and a corbelled angle turret. It has a large wall sundial dated 1700 and is attached to a square 4-storey tower with a doorway located in the re-entrant angle. The upper parts of the tower were gothicised during a reconstruction and recasting in the early 19th century. The mansion was demolished, but the original nucleus was partly restored in 1958.
