Description
The building is a bandstand located in Houston Square, designed by James B Lamb in 1891. It features an octagonal shape and is raised on a channeled stone platform base. The structure is supported by cast-iron columns made by Murdoch and Cameron from Glasgow, which are adorned with decorative wrought-iron brackets and are enclosed by decorative wrought-iron railings. The roof is made of timber and cornice, leading to an octagonal ogee-domed cupola that includes louvre and pediment detailing, topped with a wrought-iron apex weather-vane. Additionally, there are free-standing cast-iron bollards that enclose the bandstand to the north, created by P & R Fleming from Glasgow.
